Changes Counselling Services offers a variety of counselling services including virtual individual therapy, parent consultations, family therapy and group therapy.
During your first session with Changes Counselling Services, your counsellor will ask you questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counselling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counselling process.
Changes offers a variety of counselling session lengths to suit individual needs:
This flexible approach respects each teen’s unique pace and supports building trust and effectiveness.
The practice focuses on supporting teens who present with anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, stress, self-esteem challenges, family conflict, identity questions, sports performance counselling, and school challenges. The approach is brain-based and holistic, helping teens deepen their emotional understanding and develop practical coping skills.
We highly recommend that parents are involved in supporting their teens progress. Parent consultations are supportive, educational sessions for parents and caregivers. They are not therapy. These consultations help parents:
Parent consultations provide practical tools and insights to complement the teen’s counselling
It is common for teens to feel uncertain about counselling. Changes Counselling Services prioritizes creating a warm, non-judgmental environment that fosters trust at the teen’s own pace. For teens that feel hesitant about the counselling process, the 30 minute sessions may be a more suitable option to start
Virtual counselling is therapy delivered online via secure video calls, phone, or chat. It provides the same quality of care as in-person sessions while allowing people to connect safely from a private location. This flexible format reduces barriers such as travel and unfamiliar spaces, helping some people feel more comfortable opening up.
Research indicates that virtual therapy is equally effective as face-to-face counselling, particularly for teens. It fosters emotional connection through video and employs evidence-based approaches like Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) in a safe, warm, and engaging environment.
Confidentiality is a top priority. All sessions are done on the Jane App, which is an encrypted, secure platform that complies with Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA). Changes Counselling Services follows strict ethical guidelines as a Registered Clinical Counselling provider to protect client privacy, sharing information only with consent or when safety concerns arise.
Sessions can be booked through the Jane App. Standard individual 50 minute session rates range from $155 to $175. Session rates vary depending on the session length, type of session, and the education/experience of each counsellor. Please refer to the Jane app for more information on specific rates
