All of our therapists at Changes Counselling Services are Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. Our team is dedicated to continuous learning, and come with a wealth of education and experience.
My name is Danielle and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology. I started as a research assistant for the Psychology department at the University of the Fraser Valley, and then worked my way into a mental health support worker position at a psycho-social rehabilitation house for adults living with a mental illness. Though I have worked in a variety of mental health settings, I have spent over a decade of my career as a counsellor in the elementary and secondary school system.
When I started with the school district, I spent many years working in alternate high schools with youth who have severe complex mental health and/or intensive behavioural needs. Working in these environments made me see how important it is to work collaboratively with people to find solutions that fit their lifestyle, personality and relationships. One of my strengths in working in alternate schools is my ability to be flexible, think outside the box, and develop and adapt support plans as people learn and grow.
In recent years, I have been working as a high school counsellor and
have also had the opportunity to mentor and supervise practicum students as they work through their Masters degree programs. I love the outdoors and see the benefits of nature on people's mental and physical well being.
I am an intuitive and empathetic person by nature. I enjoy connecting with clients and working together with them to find ways of achieving their goals. The courage and strength of my clients is inspiring, and I feel honoured that they trust me to be a part of their journey towards wellness.
